Chapter 2: The Mysterious Lucario

After a while of talking we understood each other's situation, Luke was a trainer who lived in New Bark town in the Johto region with his mother and his Quilava, he told me all about his various battles with his friends and taking on the different gyms in the region, as he was telling me I could see what a serious person he could be as well as the happy go lucky Dragonite I met before, he cared deeply for his Pokémon and I found myself with a lot more respect for him. When we had finished talking we decided to have a look around for anyone else on the beach, Luke flew up high and had an aerial view whilst I used agility to zip around the beach, the feeling of using a Pokémon move made me feel powerful, I felt as if I was ten times stronger than I was when I was a human I could run ten times as fast and move freely around the beach and my senses were all ten times better, I could see further than I had ever been able to see before and I could hear things that I never thought I could hear.

After a few minutes of searching and being unable to find anything I returned to where we met and waited for Luke to come back, and with a thump the Dragonite landed in front of me and grinned "Did you find anything?" he said still grinning, I shook my head "Not even a Krabby…" I replied Luke nodded and lifted a claw and pointed over to his left "I think I saw a town just over those hills" I turned my head in the direction of his claw and saw the hills he was describing, I then nodded and got up "Let's take a look." I said and we both took off towards the town. As we were making our way towards the town I looked around and noticed something, there were no roads wherever I looked there wasn't one sign of a road or even human life, I thought that maybe we were in a deserted area where people use Pokémon to get around instead of trains or cars but as soon as we entered the town I knew I was wrong… the town was bustling, there were stalls all lined up in courtyard with a huge beautiful fountain in the middle, the stalls were covered in interesting things, I even saw a few evolution stones and rare berries for sale, but the ones manning the stalls weren't humans, they were Pokémon! Hundreds of Pokémon all different kinds all gathered in one place, then it hit me, this is the reason there are no roads, there are no humans here… an entire world completely ran by Pokémon, for Pokémon, my head was spinning at the thought, there wasn't  a single human in this entire world.

Luke poked me and I came back to reality after my deep thought "You ok Nami?" he said sounding concerned, I nodded and put the thought to the back of my mind "Let's have a look around." i said as I smiled up at him "But don't tell anyone that we are humans, ok?" I said as I walked past him, he nodded and followed me in to the middle of the square. As I looked around I didn't feel as if I was out of place the Pokémon were all chatting and laughing like any human would, there was a little Azurill begging his mother for an Oran berry ice-cream from a stall ran by a Froslass "Maybe this place isn't so different than our world…" I thought to myself as I watch the Azurill tug on the arm of his mother who was an Azumarill as she went to the stall with him and asked for his ice cream, the Froslass gives a kind smile and hands the ice cream to the excited little Pokémon.

As we were looking over all the stalls there was one that caught my eye, it was ran by a Haunter and was covered in different trinkets and various hold items like spell tags and mystic water, on the end of the table there was a strange looking amulet and for some reason I am drawn to it, as I get closer I can see that the amulet is gold with a huge red jewel in the middle, it sparkled brightly as the sun hit it and reflected off to make colourful shapes on the wall behind the table, as I looked even closer it looked as if there was an Unknown 'G' inside the jewel, the Haunter floated over and put his hand over the jewel "Are you thinking of buying this miss?" I looked up at the Haunter then at his hands where he was hiding the jewel "W-well…" I didn't know what to say, the amulet was compelling to me… I felt like I needed to get it somehow "Can I ask what kind of currency you use here?" I said knowing it wouldn't make any difference since I didn't have any money anyway "Poke-dollars… where are you from?" the Haunter asked looking at me with a strange face "W-we don't use Poke-dollars where I'm from… I'm uhh not from around here…" I said nervously trying not to seem suspicious, the Haunter chuckled "You must be from pretty far away then!" I laughed along as well although it was a little awkward the Haunter seemed like he didn't suspected me of anything.

My thoughts turned back to the mysterious amulet "What will it take for you to give me that for free?" I said with a nervous smile, the Haunter stopped laughing at the word 'free' he clearly didn't like the sound of it "If you don't have any money you can go away." The Haunter's attitude had completely changed suddenly I felt a little intimidated… Haunters had always scared me… ever since I went to Lavender town back at home when our Persian passed away, the eerie atmosphere and the girl who used to sit outside of the Pokémon tower with that strange music box, all day that girl would sit there, wind up the music box and listen to the creepy tune that emanated out of it, the locals used to say that she is waiting for her Pokémon to come back and she hasn't realized that the Pokémon she is waiting for is dead, other people say that she is talking to the Ghost Pokémon who reside in the tower, I remember going to visit Persian's grave and clutching tightly to my father's hand as I could still here that tune even inside the tower, my father used to just pat me on the head and tell me that there was nothing to be scared of, you could sometimes catch a glimpse of the Gastly and Haunter that lived in the tower and sometimes used to hear the sound of them giggling, that's what scared me most, their laughter sounded sinister to me when I was a child, and the Haunter's wide grin gave me the goosebumps…

I was suddenly broken away from my thoughts when I tall shadow loomed over me and I heard a low yet soft voice behind me "I'd be happy to by that for the young lady…" the voice said with a flirtatious tone, I glanced behind me and saw two long blue and black legs I followed them and looked up to see a Lucario standing behind me he winked at me then looked back at the Haunter, the Haunter grinned and rubbed his hands together "Of course sir…" he said with a greedy look in his eyes "That'll be 100 Poke-dollars…" the Lucario held up a small bag and shook it "This should be enough." He said and dropped the bag into Haunter's open hand, Haunter tipped the contents on the bag into his other hand and counted the gold coins he then grinned once again "Heh heh Thank you..." the said before floating back behind his stall. I turned around and looked up at the egotistical Lucario "Th-Thanks…" I said and the Lucario knelt down in front of me "It's no problem, I'll do anything for a lady." I blushed as he put the amulet around my neck then winked at me once again, suddenly I saw Luke's foot come in between the Lucario and me, I looked up at Luke's face to see he was glaring directly at the Lucario, "I didn't think many Dragonites had Leer…" the Lucario said in a smug voice, Luke didn't say anything he just continued to glare at the Lucario only even more intensely than before, the Lucario shrugged his shoulders "I can tell when I'm not wanted…" he said still with a smug tone "there are some ruins up the mountain… you should take a look…" the Lucario said to me as he walked away, I looked up at Luke "Why were you so rude?" I said sternly, Luke didn't look at me he just watched as the Lucario walked away "I don't trust him." I glared at Luke "He's a nice guy! He just bought me this amulet!" I said beginning to raise my voice, I didn't understand why Luke was being so stubborn, Luke looked down at me with a stern look he knew what I was thinking "We are NOT going to those ruins!" he shouted at me, I grinded my teeth "Why the hell not?! He was trying to help me! What's wrong with you?!" I shouted back at him, Luke looked away and clenched his fists, I turned around and began to walk away "I'm going to those ruins… whether you want to go or not…"
